Police said they discovered nearly 1,000 videos of children being sexually abused by adults on a Fort Lauderdale man’s computers.
Thomas Dray, 23, of 3065 SW 16th St. was arrested and charged with 30 counts of possession of child pornography and one count of using a computer to compile and collect child pornography, Fort Lauderdale Police said in a statement.
Dray was being held on $301,000 bond at the Broward County Mail Jail Tuesday afternoon, online jail records said. It was not immediately known whether he has an attorney.
The police department, along with the South Florida Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, did an undercover investigation on an IP address that was sharing child pornography, pinpointing it to Dray’s address, police said.
He admitted that he downloaded and viewed the illegal images, and a forensic examination of the computers led to the discovery of the hundreds of videos, according to police.
Many of the children in the videos appeared to be as young as 7 years old, police said. The images and videos will be sent to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children to attempt to identify the young victims, they said.
Investigators urge anyone who may have had contact with Dray to call Det. Rob Mauro at 954-888-1570 or Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
