Mother Demands Independent Probe Into Daughter's Fatal Crash
Susie Castillo on Wednesday demanded that an independent investigation be launched into the Oct. 19 car crash that fatally injured her daughter Andrea. Her attorney, Jorge Silva, said he is considering a lawsuit against the city of Hialeah.

The crash occurred at about 5:30 a.m. and blocked the eastbound lanes of Okeechobee Road near the intersection with NW 112th Court. Joe Sanchez of the FHP described how one person whose cab was submerged under water was able to find an air pocket and survive.
A North Miami Beach driver is in critical condition after a crash in Fort Lauderdale over the weekend, police said.
Venetta Thomas, 42, suffered severe injuries in the crash between her 2003 Nissan Altima and a 2005 Nissan Murano being driven by Karen Miller, 44, of West Park, according to Fort Lauderdale Police.
Miller’s car was heading east on West Broward Boulevard when it struck the left side of Thomas’ car, which was heading north on SW 7th Avenue, on Sunday at about 7:50 a.m., police said in a statement.
